The Underfashion Club hosted Bra-Volution to give club members and friends a chance to walk back in time and witness the evolution of lingerie and sleepwear, from top to bottom! It was held at the Pergola Restaurant in NYC on June 23rd, 2015. Garments were pinned to boards throughout the venue to illustrate key trends for each decade from the 1950’s up until today with an amazing collection of beautiful garments, generously donated by friends in the intimate apparel industry! Our journey through time begins with the oldest piece on display, a Triumph bra from 1914. read more

The Underfashion Club had the pleasure of illustrating live lingerie models with guidance from the acclaimed fashion illustrator Bil Donovan during our latest event, “Illustration & Libation”! It was held on May 14th, 2015 at the Society of Illustrators in Manhattan, a gorgeous environment that’s brimming with art and dedicated to nurturing the creativity of illustrators. All attendees enjoyed a delicious dinner and drinks while networking!

Sketchbooks and felt-tip markers were provided for anyone who was willing to nurture their artistic abilities and learn a bit about fashion illustration from our talented guest. read more

The Underfashion Club members and friends gathered on April 21st, 2015 at The Cutting Room in Manhattan to receive an invaluable update on sourcing in the intimate apparel industry.

The speakers, from different sides of the sourcing experience, were Bob Dzielak (Commercial Director Apparel N & S America of INVISTA), Edward Hertzman (Publisher of The Sourcing Journal), Margaret Clougher (Vice President of Production/Technical Design of Aerie, American Eagle), and moderator Guido Campello (CEO of Cosabella). After networking over cocktails and delicious appetizers, we all took seats before our guests for the start of the seminar. read more


The Underfashion Club, with the cooperation of its members, is sponsoring a summer internship program in the New York Metropolitan area that provides an opportunity for students from the Fashion Institute of Technology to gain valuable industry experience while pursuing an academic degree. We draw upon a large pool of design, merchandising, and production majors, who commit to work as interns for 9-10 weeks starting the first week in June. Curvexpo New York, one of the most influential intimate apparel trade shows in North America, was held from February 22 – 24, 2015 at the Javitz Center in New York City. Over 300 exhibitors from around the world gathered to showcase their Fall/Winter 2015 collections of lingerie, swimwear, loungewear, sleepwear, and menswear. It was a great opportunity for the industry to observe the most prominent trends for the upcoming season. read more

The annual Femmy Gala honors leading intimate apparel industry retailers, manufacturers, suppliers, innovators and individuals recognized for outstanding lifetime achievement, and raises funds in support of its mission, “Education today for a better industry tomorrow.” The 2015 Gala, hosted by actress/producer Vivica A. Fox was held at Cipriani 42nd Street on February 3rd, and featured the organization’s 12th Annual Student Design Contest whose winners, chosen that night, received cash awards. read more

It was unusually cool in Cabo yesterday; a blanket of dark clouds coating the sky. I decided to take a long walk in the arid hills behind my house.  One might question my decision. Hiking through the desert is not often a first choice destination. This terrain, often perceived as a dry and barren space is, to me, a place of serene beauty.  A mix of sun washed color, the landscape transforms after the rainy season, a sweep of green, sculpted by multiple species of cacti. This year, because of the intensity of Hurricane Odile, it is still, in January, a mass of verdant undergrowth.  What made this particular sojourn so special, though, was the discovery of a beautiful white flower, spectacular in its singular presence on the stalk of a giant cardόn cactus.  To me, finding the unexpected is always a catalyst for the creative process. read more
