Melanie is a fourth-year intimate apparel student at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. Her interest in fashion started when she was young, always sketching garments and dreaming of the day that she would be able to make them a reality. She knew she wanted to specialize in intimate apparel after seeing all the beautiful laces and fabrications featured in the intimates section of the annual FIT fashion show. It was as if these garments drifted away from everyday fashion trends and entered an entirely different realm of fantasy. Almost costume-like, the limits in intimate apparel seemed endless – an exciting world she could not wait to be a part of. It is Melanie’s goal to enter this vast, exciting field and share her ideas of creativity and positivity with the world.
