Charitable Mission
Even though the Underfashion Club exists to "support education today for a better industry tomorrow," its charitable activities extend beyond scholarships and grants. We are also part of the corporate and local community. Therefore, as an integral part of the Club's activities, the Charity Committee determines the relative importance of new charity requests and reviews traditional annual donations.
Usually, our contributions fall into one of three categories: industry-specific, such as the High School of Fashion Industries and the Intimate Apparel Square Club; industry related, such as breast cancer education/prevention and prostate cancer education; and local charities, such as City Meals on Wheels, St. Francis of Assisi and the NY Foundling Home. These are just some examples of charities we support on an on-going basis. In addition, we make a number of one-time gifts.
While our main purpose is not charity, we feel good will within our industry and communities is appropriate for the Club. We are always looking for volunteers to join our committee and help us do this work. So, if you have a few extra minutes and would like to give back to our industry and community, we welcome you. Keep in mind that you, too, can benefit by meeting and getting to know other folks in our industry. |
